Bell played the role of the titular narrator for the teen drama series Gossip Girl. The 2021 sequel will have her reprising this role. Bell was also Showtime comedian House of Lies' lead actress, Jeannie van de Hooven. Bell starred as Eleanor Shellstrop, the leading character in the critically acclaimed NBC comedy show The Good Place. She was nominated for an Golden Globe Award. Bell played the character of Eleanor Shellstrop in the streaming show The Woman in the Home across the street from the Girl in the Window.
